(October 15, 2013) The Nebraska Early Childhood Grandparents Network seeks to spread the word with grandparents in local communities and invite them to become a part of its network. The network is a loosely knit group of statewide Nebraska grandparents who are concerned for the economic, educational, employment and population future of the state.  Susan SheridanThe Challenge of Parent Engagement

(August 13, 2013) Susan Sheridan, director of the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools, will moderate a televised panel on parent engagement in children's education to be aired Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. on NET2 World.

The program will also include an interview with Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman and First Lady Sally Ganem, who recently proclaimed August as Parental Involvement Month in the state. The program will re-air Aug. 18 at 2 p.m., Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. Read more on the CYFS news page.

 Kathleen RudasillRudasill Studying Effects of Temperament on Early Childhood Achievement

(June 28, 2013) Kathleen Rudasill, an associate professor of educational psychology and CYFS faculty affiliate, has launched a study to determine how the temperaments of disadvantaged children influence their early academic performance. She's also exploring whether positive classroom environments can lower the risk of academic hardship. Read more on CYFS page...

Healthy Snacking App

Snack Planet - is a game to  promote the benefits of healthy snacking and exercise. Help Optimis, the robot, move quickly through the maze, grab the healthy foods and reach the exit before the time runs out. A word of warning though, steer clear of the snacks which are not healthy. They reduce both time and score.
